Project Overview

Nike called on Instrument to help move the Nike Sportswear brand forward in the form of a new, global web experience. They were looking for a place that could showcase their products as the icons they are, with stories and visuals to back up their status. As a result, we created NikeSportswear.com and raised the bar for Nike's product experience on the web.

The site, tailor-made for massive amounts of content, allows fans to browse the latest updates fast, while keeping the experience light with rich photography and editorial-style content streamlined for standard browsers and mobile. We created the site to remain simple and searchable on the "Product" side while introducing more detail within the "Stories" section, where fans can learn about key features on shoes, apparel and accessories, as well as their place in the game-changing regimen of today's best athletes.

NikeSportswear.com was built on an enterprise content management platform called CQ5, a first for the brand. This powerful system is paired with HTML5 and Javascript, resulting in an experience that loads 10 times faster than before, while maintaining reliability across all browsers and platforms (including iOS). Additional features to the site include ways to share content socially and a more modern architecture for easier search. The result has been a substantial increase in traffic upon launch and daily views since.
